Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo won Grand Prix de France at Le Mans circuit, followed by Hayate Kawasaki's Marco Melandri in second place and Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa in third. The race started on a wet track and was completed on slicks. Jorge Lorenzo judged the weather perfectly and he managed to take his second win of the 2009 MotoGP season. Lorenzo now tops the MotoGP championship standings with 66 points. Reigning champion Valentino Rossi who finished last, after slipping shortly after changing bikes is on second with 65 points. Casey Stoner who finished fifth on third with 55 points.
